Nationwide “Localism Over Globalism” Rally

Tentative Date: January 31 – A Call to Action for Localism in Canada!

We're excited to announce the Localism Over Globalism Rally—currently in the planning stages—to unite Canadians in a powerful display of community pride and advocacy. On January 31, we’re proposing that communities gather outside town halls across Canada, making a visible stand for locally-driven governance and encouraging councils to opt out of global programs like the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP).

Rally Vision
Imagine Canadians gathering across all 522 municipalities, parking outside town halls with flags, singing "O Canada," and maybe even breaking out the hockey sticks for a game or two! This rally is about celebrating what makes Canada unique and showing our commitment to Localism Over Globalism.

Our Goals

  • Raise Awareness: Inform residents about the impacts of global agendas like the PCP program and advocate for community-driven governance.

  • Empower Local Councils: Encourage councils to withdraw from programs that may not reflect the unique needs of Canadian communities.

  • Showcase Community Unity: Demonstrate our collective commitment to localism through coordinated rallies across Canada.

How You Can Get Involved

  • Rally Captains & Local Spokespersons: Volunteer to help lead your community’s rally, coordinate participants, and manage a positive, organized event.

  • Nationwide Coordination: Our KICLEI team will manage logistics, including a press release, guidance on working with local authorities, and a major announcement on CPAC the day before to raise awareness and drive participation across the country.

  • Main Rally in Ottawa: In addition to local rallies, a larger event is planned in Ottawa, featuring speeches at the Joan of Arc Courtyard outside the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) building.

What We’re Looking For

  • Local Volunteers: Help organize in your area, whether by coordinating participants or spreading the word.

  • Support on the Ground: Rally captains and volunteers to ensure positive and respectful engagement at every town hall.

  • Code of Conduct: We’ll provide a Code of Conduct to foster a constructive and welcoming atmosphere at all events.

How to Support
Whether you can organize locally, spread the word, or lend your voice, your involvement matters. Let’s make sure our message is heard across Canada—local interests and community-led initiatives over global mandates.
