Letter Writing Campaign to BC Mayors and Council Members
Reclaiming Our Communities
Its Time to Speak Up!
Will YOU Join Us?
A powerful 2-minute video was recently released by the President of the Union of British Columbia Municipalities, Trish Mandewo, sharing the deep concerns of BC Mayors and Councillors about issues in our communities. Watch it here on YouTube.
Letter Writing Campaign to BC Mayors and Council Members
Why We Need You:
Mayors and Councillors are overwhelmed by issues like homelessness, addiction, vandalism, policing, infrastructure costs, and climate “crisis” initiatives. They are also waking up to the financial costs of bowing to pressure from higher levels of Government and foreign influence. They need to hear from citizens like us to push for real solutions.
How You Can Help:
Join our letter-writing campaign to make your voice heard! We’re targeting local Municipalities by each delivering letters directly to our own local Mayors and Council Members.
Get Involved in 3 Easy Steps:
NEW: Read our Report:
Start by reading our latest report, "Concerns Regarding UBCM’s Climate Action Priorities." This report critically examines the UBCM’s "Stretched to the Limit" report on provincial priorities in the upcoming election and outlines the need for a shift in focus to more pressing local issues.
Download a Template:
We provide letter templates on various topics. Just download, personalize, and print them.
NEW Download Open Letter to the Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM)
Deliver Your Letters:
Hand-deliver or mail your letters to your Mayor and each Council Member individually. Find their names and addresses on your Municipality’s website.
Paper letters get more attention than emails! But if email is your best option, please be sure to send them to each individual on your Council separately.
Spread the Word:
Share this campaign with friends, family, and colleagues. The more letters we send, the louder our voice!
Upcoming Event:
The 2024 UBCM Convention is in Vancouver on September 16th–20th at the Vancouver Convention Centre, located at 1055 Canada Place, Vancouver, BC V6C 0C3. Provincial and Federal Governments will likely be putting pressure on Councils to speed up their Climate, Housing, and Infrastructure initiatives. Let’s make sure our Councils know we support their withdrawal from these initiatives so they are ready to represent the needs of the citizens who elected them!
Join Us:
Download the letter template, send your letters, and encourage others to do the same. Together, we can speak up to reclaim our communities and make a difference.
With Deep Gratitude,
BC Concerned Citizens
