KICLEI CANADA
Mission
Empowering Local Communities, Defending Local Autonomy.
Our mission in 2025 is to equip Canadian communities with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to reclaim local governance and resist global mandates that undermine sovereignty. Through education, advocacy, and grassroots action, KICLEI Canada stands for transparency, accountability, and the protection of property rights, energy security, and economic freedom. We are committed to fostering locally driven solutions that prioritize the well-being of Canadians over globalist policies.

KICLEI`s envisions a Canada where:
Local Communities Drive Decisions: Empowered local governments create solutions that address the unique needs of their residents, free from external mandates.
Our Resources Are Responsibly Managed: Clean water, affordable energy, and land rights are preserved for all Canadians, ensuring future generations thrive.
Democracy is Protected: Policies are transparent, accountable, and developed in genuine consultation with the people they affect.
Freedom and Dignity Are Guaranteed: Every Canadian enjoys the right to privacy, property, and self-determination, while fostering respect for our cultural and regional diversity.
We believe that prioritizing localism over globalism is the key to protecting Canada’s sovereignty and building a stronger, freer nation.

Our Vision
We Do This By…
Bringing Canadians together to take collective action and build grassroots community power as we:
Protect local governance and sovereignty by opposing international overreach and advocating for Canadian-made solutions.
Educate communities about the voluntary nature of programs like FCM ICLEI’s Partners for Climate Protection and their impact on local autonomy.
Promote practical environmental stewardship, focusing on clean water, pollution prevention, soil regeneration and holistic development—not globally mandated net-zero goals.
Develop resources, strategies, and advocacy tools to help communities effectively engage with local governments.
Build a national network of grassroots organizers dedicated to localism and community-led decision-making.
Join us in creating a stronger, freer Canada where communities lead the way.

🏛️ Organizational Structure & Growth Plan
KICLEI Canada is a grassroots initiative founded by Maggie Braun. While we are not yet formally structured, efforts are actively underway to establish an organizational framework by the end of 2025. This approach ensures consistency and effectiveness in our advocacy, particularly in light of past challenges to our efforts.
Despite being in the early stages of formal organization, KICLEI has already achieved significant successes. Notably, in 2024, our reports and presentations contributed to Thorold’s withdrawal from the PCP program and motivated Tiny Township to conduct a cost analysis. Building on these successes, our 2025 national tour will expand awareness and provide strategic training across Canada.
We are committed to transparency and are always happy to provide more details about our structure and plans upon request, email info@kiclei.ca for more information.
